Inspirational quotes from Maria Montessori
“The things he sees are not just remembered; they form a part of his soul.”
“Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.”
“It is the child who makes the man, and no man exists who was not made by the child he once was.”"When dealing with children there is greater need for observing than of probing”
“It is true that we cannot make a genius. We can only give to teach child the chance to fulfil his potential possibilities.”
“Little children, from the moment they are weaned, are making their way toward independence.”
“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.”
One of my all time favourite books isGuess how much I love you, written by Sam MacBratney |
I love this book and choose to read it to my own children often as well as my class. it shows the special love of a child and a parent. I like the repetition in the book. The illustrations are beautiful.
I have chosen to share this poem that my 7 year old son came home with on the first day of second grade. It touched my heart deeply to see his sensitive little character coming through so beautifully in his writting.
I cannot wait until my sons are able to express themselves as well as your son, Josh, has. It is so cute that he keeps repeating how sporty and cool he is. I also like your favorite book choice. It is one of my favorites too. I find it very interesting that although we are leading very different types of lives in different areas of the world, we still have so much in common.
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen,
DeleteThanks for your comment. I agree, it is lovely to share things in comman - as mommies of boys :)
I love all the Maria Montessori quotes presented on your page. Each one rings so true about early childhood in their own way. I've never read your favorite book so I'll have to stop buy the library and check it out. I love your son's poem. It is so simple yet so developed especially for a 2nd grader. I can't wait to see where his writing takes him as he gets older
ReplyDeleteHi Arrielle,
DeleteThanks for your message. let me know what you think of the book when you read it - it's super sweet.
Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your son’s poem, it was absolutely beautiful!
Maria Montessori’s thinking is amazing and speaks volumes to how we should approach teaching and learning. Have you had much experience with working at a Montessori school?
Thanks for your response - being my eldest son, it was the first time one of my boys bought home something with such depth. A heart warming moment. It is a lovely way to understand more about children through poetry. This particular poem is a prompt poem - so they get the first lines given to them. I feel... I see... I cry... that sort of thing.
DeleteMy education started with my Montessori training and I have taught at 2 different Montessori schools. My boys were lucky enough to go to a Montessori farm school while we lived in South Africa but now we are in Indonesia they are in mainstream education. It is well worth reading more about Maria Montessori approach - I think it's wonderful.
For enjoyed looking more in depth at the mountain range you have in the picture. Like to study over different segment positions around the areas where I am at also. Seeing in a mockery of it how there is at times a decentering when noting on the shapes and colors in the clouds more or less when it is either raining or snowing out. Not sure what is on the other side of that region you have in that picture yet can only imagine any type of growth like trees, vines, and bushes that could grow there to have a more applausing effect to it.
